SUISUN CITY - If you are planning to drop by the Suisun Branch Library at 333 Sunset Ave. after Saturday, don't.

The only thing greeting you will be a locked door.

Saturday is the library's last day on the second floor of the Sunset Avenue office building. The opening of Suisun City's new library is on track for June 25 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Construction of the new library at 601 Pintail Drive, between the Suisun City Fire Department and Suisun Elementary School, has been completed. The furniture has already arrived.

The facility is approximately 10,000 square feet, double the size of the current library. The new library will offer much more than more space.

Those needing computer access will have it. There will be 26 public access computers, including a 15-seat technology learning center. There is also a special area for teens. Community groups can take advantage of the 70-seat meeting room, which has an after-hours entrance.

A fenced side entrance facing Suisun Elementary will allow students to safely go to and from the library before it opens to the public in the morning.

The new library is the product of a collaboration among the Solano County Library, the Fairfield-Suisun School District and the City of Suisun City.
